The wedding took place (20th May 1944) in Apsley Church, Uncle Peter was Best Man and Uncle Bill gave mum away. Rita was bridesmaid and mum’s best friend Win was Matron of Honour. Mum’s dress was made from parachute silk. They honeymooned for a couple of days in London at the Russell Square Hotel (oddly Jean also stayed there for her honeymoon). Wedding presents and most photos were put into storage and were all stolen!
Fifty years later they celebrate their Golden Anniversary with Maria looking on
